An Empirical Survey of Children and Youth in Organised Armed Violence in Nigeria: Egbesu Boys, OPC and Bakassi Boys as a Case Study
Since the implementation of democratic rule in Nigeria in May 1999, the phenomenon of organised, armed violence has become a defining characteristic of the socio-political scene. Different armed groups, known as vigilantes and militias, have evolved from nearly every geographical, ethnic and social section of the country. The study on COAV in Nigeria focuses on these armed vigilante groups, and profiles the children and youth involved.
